Verona, NY – As part of its annual County Finance School session this month, the NYS County Treasurers and Finance Officers Association recognized Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck with the prestigious Finance Officer of the Year Award.
“I was so honored when they announced I was the only one for whom they voted,” said Buck, a 20-year member of the Association. “The ballot goes out to all the members, but this isn’t a list where you simply check off your choice.”
“It was my pleasure to award Nancy Buck the Finance Officer of the Year plaque,” stated Kevin Gardner, President of the NYS County Treasurers and Finance Officers Association. “This award shows how much Nancy’s efforts are truly appreciated by the members of the Association, and there is no one more deserving of this recognition than Nancy Buck.”
Buck has served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Association over her two decades of involvement. Not long ago, she brought the Association’s Summer Conference to Sullivan County when she was President, attracting nearly 100 treasurers and finance officers from across the State to the four-day gathering.
“I truly appreciate the award, of course, but I travelled upstate this month to also discuss the latest issues impacting counties Statewide, including payments-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOTs), assessment concerns, and major changes in the foreclosure process,” she noted. “There is always something new to learn.”
