Liberty, NY – Since it can often be hard to get to the Sullivan County Department of Family Services’ (DFS’) offices during normal business hours, DFS has installed an outdoor dropbox at the Travis Building, 16 Community Lane, Liberty.

“Anyone can use it to drop off applications and documentation after hours (from 5 p.m.-8 a.m.) Monday-Friday and on weekends and holidays,” explains Social Services Commissioner John Liddle. “However, it is not for cash, checks, or money orders, as we don’t want it to become a target of theft.”

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Legislature is pleased to announce that Sullivan County’s Annual Roadside Litter Pluck Event will take place from April 1 through June 30, 2021.

The County will waive the waste disposal fee for roadside litter plucked bags, through the County’s Parks, Recreation and Beautification Department and the Division of Public Works.

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency, on behalf of the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition and AmVets, recently accepted a $600+ donation from Noah Ingber, a South Fallsburg resident who encouraged his friends, family and neighbors to donate to veterans in need.

“I enjoy doing it. I take after my dad, Brian, who helped people out when they needed it,” said Ingber.

Harris, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services and Garnet Health Medical Center-Catskills continue to partner to mount clinics to get COVID-19 vaccine out to residents.

As of Friday, February 26, Public Health has administered 2,155 vaccines (which includes 1,617 first doses and 538 second doses of the Moderna vaccine) in just over a month. The majority of these individuals have been essential workers as defined in category 1B by the State, and those age 65 and over. 

Monticello, NY – Properties in Sullivan County subject to this year’s tax foreclosure proceeding can be redeemed through May 3, 2021.

“The current redemption date is February 26, 2021,” explained County Treasurer Nancy Buck. “The State’s COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020, however, created a stay of the foreclosure proceeding based on the hardships on property owners created by the coronavirus pandemic. In consultation with my staff, I chose May 3, 2021 as the new redemption date.”

“We don’t want anything getting in the way of good people looking to do good things,” affirms Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “But it is necessary for everyone to sign up through the ServNY system, which allows us to quickly organize, contact and track volunteers who want to help during this pandemic.”
