The Department of Social Services (DSS) is one of four Departments within the Division of Health and Human Services. DSS is Sullivan County's local district for social services which administers all phases of social services and public assistance programs as defined in NYS Social Services Law.

DSS' mission is to help residents of Sullivan County achieve wellbeing and independence through opportunities that protect, empower, respect choice and preserve dignity.


How Can We Help You Get Services?

If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911. If you need immediate assistance with a housing situation, you may contact the Department of Social Services during business hours from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, at 845-292-0100 or visit us at 16 Community Lane, Liberty, NY. If after hours, please call the DSS at 1-866-381-6576.
