Summer Youth Employment Program
About the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is funded by the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). This program is for year-round youth residents of Sullivan County ages 14-21, and starts July 8th 2024 and ends August 16th 2024, for a total of 6 weeks of employment.
Each year, there is a variety of sites for employment both inside and outside. Job opportunities include clerical, landscaping, digital marketing, and more! We take your interests into consideration when doing job placements for SYEP.

What if I need to call out?
- Being at work and on time each day will ensure your success in the Summer Youth Employment Program.
- If you are going to be late to work or are not coming in, you must notify the SYEP coordinator. Please call 845-807-0618 or text 845-796-8226 PRIOR TO 9AM and leave a message stating your name, work location, and call back number.
- There is no pay for absences, excused or unexcused.
- If you need time off for an appointment and are unable to schedule it for a Friday when off, notify your work site supervisor and Youth Workforce Coordinator as soon as you are aware.
How do I keep track of my hours?
- Time sheets will be completed weekly with your site supervisor, must be signed by you, and be turned in to the Center for Workforce Development every Thursday. Your pay is calculated based off these time sheets.
- Additional time sheets can be picked up from the Youth Workforce Coordinator at any point during the summer program.
- This is your responsibility to complete and sign weekly. Failure on your part could result in not receiving your paycheck on time.
What do I wear to work?
- There are two types of job sites available for SYEP participants: indoors and outdoors.
- Inside employees should dress nicely and be in compliance with their site's dress codes.
- Employees working outdoors should refrain from wearing open toe shoes, tank tops, and belly shirts. Check with your Crew Leader to determine if shorts are acceptable at your site. Older clothes work well; plan to wear a hat and long sleeves when working in a wooded area. Protective equipment will be provided if necessary.
- Flip flops, slides, shorts, tank tops, ripped jeans, belly shirts, sweatpants, or pajamas are not permitted at ANY site for the duration of the Summer Youth Employment Program.
- If you require assistance with clothing, please reach out to Krista Berger, Youth Workforce Coordinator at 845-807-0618
Is there anything else I should know?
- You must bring your lunch each day, including snacks and beverages. If you have difficulties bringing lunch, please reach out to the SYEP coordinator at 845-807-0618 to discuss options.
- Outside site participants should bring a water bottle with them.

- There is absolutely no smoking or vaping at any of our SYEP sites. The use of substances while working is not permitted.
