Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Office for the Aging warmly invites everyone to its Annual Public Hearing and Senior Resource Fair, set for Wednesday, October 25.
“We want to make this day informative and fun, not just something we’re legally required to do,” explains Office for the Aging Director Lise-Anne Deoul. “I encourage anyone over the age of 55 to join us that day in the Government Center. It will be worth your time, I promise!”
The Public Hearing itself will kick the day off at 10 a.m. in the Hearing Room on the second floor of the Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello. Those who wish to speak will have the opportunity to do so, and the Office’s State-required Area Plan for 2024-2025 will be explained and discussed. All comments will be reviewed by the Advisory Committee and Office staff, with recommendations incorporated into the final plan.
At 10:30 a.m. (or the conclusion of the Public Hearing), the Sullivan County Emergency Management Office will give a useful talk on emergency preparedness, followed by a “Scams and Frauds – Senior Medicare Patrol” presentation by the NY Statewide Senior Action Council.
At the same time (from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.), a Senior Resource Fair will be in full swing in the Government Center’s lobby, with refreshments being served after 11:30.
“Enjoy food and drink while learning about all the services our Office and our partners can offer you,” says Deoul. “I’m pretty sure you’ll discover something you didn’t know we provided in Sullivan County, so don’t miss it!”
