DA Conaty Announces 10-Year Sentence for Arson

Liberty, NY - On January 24. 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney, Brian P. Conaty announced that Davina Holden, 57, of Liberty, was sentenced to ten years incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision by Sullivan County Court Judge James R. Farrell on January 16, 2025, upon her conviction for Arson in the Second Degree, a Class B violent felony. Holden pled guilty to that charge on December 12, 2024, admitting that she intentionally set fire to her residence located at 36 Liberty Commons Way on July 16, 2024, while knowing her son was inside. Upon notification of the structure fire, the Village of Liberty Police Department, Village of Liberty Fire Department, Sullivan County Fire Investigation Team, and Emergency Medical Services were quickly dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire, provide medical services, and investigate the cause of the fire.

Conaty said: “I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all the first responders who worked tirelessly to extinguish this intentionally set fire and investigate it’s source. Their courage, dedication, and swift actions not only protected lives and property but also led to the apprehension and prosecution of the individual responsible.”
