DA Conaty Announces 12-Year Sentence for Illegal Weapon Possession

Isaiah Blanch

Monticello, NY - On March 12, 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that Isaiah “Tall Blood” Blanch, 38, of Liberty, was sentenced to twelve years incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision by Sullivan County Court Judge James R. Farrell upon his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony. This conviction was the result of a three-day jury trial during which the jury found on June 12, 2023, Blanch, who had two prior felony convictions, illegally possessed a loaded and operable .380 caliber “Cobra Ent of Utah” pistol outside his home or place of business. This case was prosecuted at trial by Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael J. Puma while Blanch was represented by Edward Bruno, Esq.

Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty said: “This lengthy sentence reflects the dangers of illegal weapon possession and will serve as a deterrent for all those who so endanger the safety of the citizens of Sullivan County. As I previously stated, illegal weapon possession leads to further violent crimes and is an insult to law-abiding citizens that have undertaken great efforts to comply with New York State gun laws to exercise their Second Amendment rights. I wish to sincerely thank Chief ADA Puma for his dedication and professionalism to Sullivan County while handling this case and seeing it through to a successful conviction by jury. I also wish to thank the Village of Liberty Police Department for their continued commitment to thoroughly investigate violent crimes to ensure the most successful prosecutions.”
