Monticello, NY - On March 7, 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that Michael Hiller, 46, of Liberty, was sentenced by Sullivan County Court Judge James R. Farrell to twelve years’ incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years’ post-release supervision upon Hiller’s convictions for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent Felony, and twelve years’ incarceration in state prison to be followed by three years’ of post-release supervision upon his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. These sentences were ordered to run concurrently.
Hiller was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree on July 27, 2022, after an exhaustive investigation by the New York State Police who secured nine undercover narcotics purchases from Hiller and, subsequently, secured a search warrant for his residence. At the time of his arrest, Hiller was found in possession of approximately sixty grams of crack-cocaine, sixty-six grams of heroin/fentanyl, and fifty grams of suboxone sublingual films. While released pending resolution of that charge, Hiller was arrested on March 27, 2024, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree after a domestic incident with his girlfriend when he was found in possession of a loaded and operable Walther PPK/s-1 .380 pistol. On November 20, 2024, Hiller, who had five prior felony convictions, pled guilty to these charges.
Conaty said, “This sentence reflects the seriousness of Hiller’s conduct here in Sullivan County. Those who repeatedly endanger our community by selling narcotics to vulnerable victims and by possessing illegal firearms can expect lengthy prison sentences. I commend the New York State Police and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office for their diligent efforts to protect our citizens.”
