Emergency HEAP Benefit Extended

Liberty, NY – In response to an extended amount of very cold days throughout New York State, Governor Andrew Cuomo has authorized a second round of the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Emergency Benefit.

This benefit, which will pay for up to $675 in emergency heating fuel (dependent on the type of heating system), is available only to those applicants who have already exhausted or otherwise cannot access the Regular and first round of Emergency HEAP benefits.

The second Emergency Benefit will become available this Monday, February 12. However, Sullivan County offices are closed that day due to Lincoln’s Birthday, so applications will start being taken after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13.

For more information, call the County’s HEAP Office at 845-807-0142.
