Monticello Warming Center Staying Open

Monticello, NY – Due to ongoing heat and water issues in housing in the Monticello area, the Sullivan County warming center at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center at 5 Jefferson Street will remain open for the time being, said County Manager Josh Potosek.

The Liberty warming center, located at the United Methodist Church at 170 North Main Street, has now closed, due to the easing of the brutally cold temperatures which blanketed the County this past week.

However, the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) – which can provide funds for fuel and heating system repair/replacement – continues Countywide, now including aid for emergency heating situations. For more information, call 845-807-0142.
