Hurleyville, NY – Thanks to a grant from the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Sullivan County Historical Society will present the fourth program in its new series of monthly music and history concerts.
The July 1st event will feature Hurleyville resident Rick Nestler and will take place from 2-3 p.m. at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main Street, Hurleyville.
Rick will talk about his life as a musician and educator, and will perform songs from his extensive repertoire of sea chanties, protest songs and ballads. You can read more about him at www.ricknestler.com.
Rick is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter, antinuclear activist, Hudson River Troubadour and personal friend of the late Pete Seeger. He’s been making music for over 40 years at “square dances, hoots and jams, in parks, at rallies, in galleries, on picket lines, in bars, and on the streets and stages”. He is also a licensed sea captain who worked, performed and taught environmental education on Pete Seeger’s legendary “Sloop Clearwater.”
Little Sparrow will host the event. Admission is free, donations are welcome. The program is made possible with funding from a Sullivan County Arts and Heritage Grant, funded by the Sullivan County Legislature and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
