(Monticello, NY 3:45pm) - Sullivan County Legislature has announced that the Sullivan County’s Annual Litter Pluck Event will be extended through May 21, 2017 due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing. The litter pluck was originally scheduled to take place from Saturday, May 6, 2017 through Sunday, May 14, 2017. All school and community groups, as well as private citizens are urged to participate.
Agriculture & Sustainability Committee Chair Catherine Owens encourages County residents to check with their local municipalities as there are several organized litter pluck events being planned throughout the County. “Participation in a town or village organized litter pluck event is a great way for our residents to help combat the issue of litter at a local level” stated Owens.
All residents and groups who wish to participate in Litter Pluck can pick up their Litter Pluck bags at their Town or Village Hall or local Transfer Station. While no coupons are required, all Litter Pluck refuse must be placed in clear bags and participants will be asked register at the Transfer Station at the time of disposal. Roadside refuse will be accepted free-of-charge at all County Transfer Stations during the scheduled event dates.
