Liberty, NY – What’s in a name? Plenty, and Sullivan County has embarked on an effort to create a new identity for its Adult Care Center (ACC).
Continuing the facility’s evolution from being known as the Sullivan County Infirmary, this initiative aims to broaden awareness and appeal of the 160-bed Center as far more than a long-term nursing home but a place for skilled restorative care in a therapeutic environment for those who require short-term physical rehabilitation or respite stays. Like other counties’ rebrandings of their facilities, the ACC’s new name and logo will ideally convey an attractive sense of peace, dignity and good health.
To that end, Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek sought ideas from those who work with the ACC’s users and from County employees in general. Out of just over 100 submissions, five names were chosen by the County Manager’s Office as the top contenders. In no particular order, they are The Care Center at Sunset Lake, Catskill Mountain Quality Care & Renewal, Lakeside Quality Care Center, Lake View Care Center, and The Lake House.
“We received a wide range of suggestions, many relating to Sunset Lake, which sits next to the ACC,” Potosek remarked. “Narrowing down those names to just five was challenging, but I think these choices reflect and honor that original array of ideas, and I thank every County employee who took the time to share their creativity.”
The general public now has the chance to help choose the name ultimately to be selected. Votes are welcome via the County’s website, either by visiting the ACC or County Manager’s pages or by heading directly to goo.gl/BTcKWj. The survey, which asks respondents to choose one of the top five names, will remain available until close of business on August 28, 2017. The top earner of votes will become the new name of the ACC, to be unveiled in a ceremony this fall.
