Liberty, NY – Bolstered by a collaborative effort amongst local agencies, the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force announces the following arrests:
• Donald E. Doolittle, 39, of Monticello was arrested and charged with the Class E Felony of Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree and the Class A Misdemeanor of Welfare Fraud 5th. It is alleged that Doolittle stole $2,928 in food stamp benefits by failing to report household income. Doolittle was released on an appearance ticket pending his appearance in the Town of Liberty Court.
• Raymond W. Myers of Loch Sheldrake was arrested and charged with the Felony of Filing a False Instrument in the 1st Degree and 13 Misdemeanor counts of Theft of Services. It is alleged that Myers used $926 worth of medical transportation services for non-medical purposes. Myers was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail on $1,500 bail.
• Alfred Franklin, 33, of Liberty was arrested on a Federal Arrest Warrant for Escape. Franklin, who had been released to a halfway house after serving a Federal prison sentence for narcotics offenses, absconded from that facility. A joint investigation by Sullivan County Fraud Task Force, United States Department of Homeland Security, United States Marshals Service and Liberty Police Department, revealed that Franklin was frequenting a residence in the Village of Liberty. Franklin was arrested, processed by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, and turned over to the United States Marshals Service
