Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck has been appointed to the New York State Association of Counties’ (NYSAC’s) Standing Committee on Public Safety.

“Your experience and knowledge will add to the quality of our deliberations,” NYSAC President MaryEllen Odell wrote in a letter Buck received this week.

NYSAC’s committees help the advocacy organization shape its policies and positions on legislative issues statewide. Buck already serves on NYSAC’s Economic Development, Environment and Rural Affairs Standing Committee and is an executive board member of its Women’s Leadership Council.

“My predecessor and dear friend Ira Cohen once told me to constantly seek out new challenges and opportunities, whether or not they are in the realm of finance,” recalled Buck, who succeeded Cohen as Treasurer upon his passing. “This is my way of heeding his wise advice, honoring his legacy, and expanding my work on behalf of taxpayers at the County and State levels. I look forward to joining more than 30 other Committeepeople from counties around New York in discussing and advocating for important public safety initiatives.”
