Liberty, NY – Licensed Nursing Home Administrator Frank Murphy has joined the crew of the Sullivan County Adult Care Center as its new administrator, and he’s glad to be a part of that hardworking team.
“I’m not one guy ‘leading the flock,’” he notes. “I’m trying to align all the professionals so that we lead together.”
His 16-year tenure as an administrator and consultant at New York and New Jersey skilled nursing facilities speaks to his interest in coalescing a team and spurring them to success. To that end, the Licensed Clinical Social Worker is not at all afraid to pitch in. Most recently, Murphy was a behavioral health consultant for Praxis Housing in NYC, where he provided direct clinical services at the same time he supervised 7 program directors and social workers on the clinical direction of the agency.
Murphy possesses a Master’s of Social Work and a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Administration from NYU, a Post-Master’s Diploma in Geriatric Mental Health from Hunters College’s Center on Aging and a Post-Master’s Diploma in Addictive Disorders from South Oaks Institute. He is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in New York, New Jersey and Florida and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an R designation in New York and Florida.
While his talents include turning around struggling facilities, Murphy notes the ACC is far from such.
“All systems are in place – they just need managing,” he observes. “This is a good environment for me.”
The Queens native means that quite literally, as he’s fallen in love with the gorgeous local scenery and wildlife, the slower pace, the friendliness of the people he’s met.
“It’s not just coming here to work – it’s coming here to live,” he explains.
“We’re very glad he chose here to work and live,” says Health & Family Services Committee Chair Nadia Rajsz. “Mr. Murphy brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience with him, and coupled with his team-oriented approach, I believe he will prove to be a wonderful asset to the County.”
“Frank is a disciplined but approachable leader who takes everyone’s concerns seriously, often addressing them immediately,” notes Health and Family Services Commissioner Joseph Todora. “I am impressed with his skills in management, social services, marketing, admissions and direct care, and I look forward to his contributions towards making the Adult Care Center a first-choice facility.”
“Sullivan County is committed to operating and enhancing the ACC, and Frank Murphy is visible proof of that,” adds County Manager Josh Potosek. “Building upon a team of dedicated County employees already there, he will be a key part of our effort to provide the best care in the best atmosphere for our residents, be it a short-term or long-term stay in the ACC.”
