Phillipsport, NY - The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is pleased to announce the opening of the new extension of Depot Road in the Town of Mamakating that now connects directly to State Route 209 without the use of a bridge.
For many years, vehicular traffic on Depot Road was limited as the old bridge could not handle the weight of heavy vehicles, and so it had a posted weight limit. The need for the bridge was eliminated by Sullivan County extending Depot Road to connect to State Route 209. Hence, heavy trucks will never again be restricted from travel on Depot Road.
This work was completed in line with the County’s goal to promote sustainability.
