Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Legislator Scott Samuelson was elected to the executive committee of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) this month in Syracuse as part of the Association’s 2017 Annual Meeting.
NYSAC represents New York’s 57 counties and the City of New York in Albany and Washington on matters germane to county governments, and informs county officials and the public about issues that impact county governments across the state.
“NYSAC and Sullivan County have been well served by Scott’s role on the NYSAC Board of Directors,” said NYSAC President MaryEllen Odell. “His skills at facilitating the exchange of best practices, in Sullivan County and between counties across the state, are important to NYSAC’s mission.”
Legislator Samuelson has served Sullivan County’s 1st Legislative District since 2012, and was Chairman of the Legislative Board from 2012 through 2015. He has been on the NYSAC Board of Directors since 2015. Previously, Scott served as the president of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce from 1998 until 2004. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Catskill Regional Medical Center, served as President of the Sullivan County Community College Dormitory Corporation, Treasurer of the Sullivan County REAP Board, ex officio member of the board of the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development, was a founding member of the Sullivan County Business Association, the Bethel Business Association and most recently, the Bethel Council of the Arts.
The last Sullivan County official to be on the NYSAC Executive Committee was Chairman David Kaufman, who served as the NYSAC president in 1990-91.
