Tick Talk Program Offered, April 8th in Livingston Manor

(Liberty, NY 11:00am) - With warmer weather just around the corner, our thoughts turn to spending more time in the great outdoors. Unfortunately, that means we also have to think about ticks. Even though ticks and Lyme Disease are prevalent in Sullivan County, there are many ways to reduce the risk of tick bites and disease transmission while enjoying the beautiful scenery Sullivan County has to offer. Want to learn more? Sullivan County Public Health Educator Jill Hubert-Simon, MS, will present “Tick Talk: It’s Lyme Time” on Saturday, April 8th at 10:00am at Morgan Outdoors in Livingston Manor, NY.

Participants will learn how to identify the different ticks found in our area and which ones can cause Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses. They will also learn ways to minimize the risk of tick bites while enjoying their favorite outdoor activity, as well as ways to reduce the number of ticks in their backyard and on pets. The presentation will also cover the correct way to remove a tick if you do get bit, and what to do and look for after a tick bite. Don’t let ticks keep you inside this Spring!
