(Liberty, NY 12:15pm) - Sullivan County’s Rural Health Network Drug Prevention Task Force will be sponsoring a special presentation at the Government Center, Monday 3/20 from 10-11am. The presenter, Michele Caliva, RN, CSPI is the Administrative Director of the Upstate Poison Center.
Ms. Caliva’s presentation will include:
- Current statistics regarding Sullivan County calls to the Poison Center.
- The rise in opioid deaths
- The impact on local health and communities agencies
- Drug trending and dangers - how this affects interventions
Michele Calvia, RN, BS has held the position of Administrative Director with the Upstate Poison Center since 2003. She is a certified specialist in poison information by The American Association of Poison Control Centers. She lectures extensively throughout NYS. Ms. Calvia initiated professional education programs for staff of health care facilities, county health departments and EMS for a 54 county service area.
