Land records recorded in the Sullivan County Clerk's Office include deeds, maps, mortgages, assignments, powers of attorney, satisfaction of mortgages as well as many other document types.
These records are available from 1970 to present. All recorded documents have a book and page number (prior to 2010) or instrument number assigned to them. When requesting copies of instruments, please make reference to the parties involved and, if known, the book and page and/or instrument number. The following options are available for obtaining copies:

By Mail for a Certified Copy: Write a letter with the property owner, type of document you are requesting, and book and page number or instrument number, if known. You can call the Clerk’s Office at 845-807-0411 to look up this information prior to sending a letter. Please include your name and mailing address, along with payment for the associated fees and a self-addressed stamped envelope for return mailing. Mail requests to: Sullivan County Clerk's Office, 100 North Street, Monticello, New York 12701.
In Person: Requests for copies can be made in person at the Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello, in the Land Records Room. Associated fees must be paid when copies are received.
By Phone: Telephone requests to 845-807-0411 Land Department are for informational purposes only.
By Email: Requests for copies can be made via email with a credit card payment for the associated fees.
Fees:
- $1.25 per page (not in person)
- $.50 (50 cents) per page in office
- $20 (search fee) for records not scanned into system
- $20 (search fee, limit of two (2) requests) for records to be emailed
- $5.20 for certified copies
