
Monticello, NY - On March 7, 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that Timothy Punter, 42, of Liberty, was sentenced by Sullivan County Court Judge James R. Farrell to twelve years’ incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years’ of post-release supervision upon Punter’s convictions for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent Felony, and two and a half years’ incarceration in state prison to be followed by three years’ of post-release supervision upon his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. These sentences were ordered to run concurrently.
Punter was arrested on these charges on January 26, 2024, after the execution of a search warrant by the New York State Police at 136 Pleasant St. Ext. in Monticello, New York. At the time of his arrest, Punter was found in possession of a loaded and operable Glock 40 and approximately two ounces of crack-cocaine. Punter pled guilty to these charges on August 12, 2024.
Conaty said, “The large scale possession of narcotics and the possession of illegal firearms within the Sullivan County Community needs to cease. As a result of these lengthy sentences, those who continue to engage in similar behavior should be on notice that their actions, which are detrimental to the health and well-being of the citizens of this county, will not be tolerated.”
