Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services is asking all Sullivan County residents who received a COVID-19 vaccination outside New York State to take 5 minutes to let them know.

“We’ve created a simple online form to enter your information and upload a copy of your vaccine card. Anything you submit will remain confidential,” explained Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “Our goal is to have a truer picture of the percentage of County residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”

Beechwoods Road to Be Closed for a Month for Bridgework

Hortonville, NY - The Sullivan County Division of Public Works will close a portion of Town Highway 5 (Beechwoods Road) in the Town of Delaware to repair County Bridge 455. This section of road will be closed to traffic starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 12 and will remain closed for approximately four (4) weeks.

The Sullivan County Division of Public Works will post a detour route using Schwartz Rd. (Town Highway 41), Buddenhagen Rd. (TH 4), Radio Tower Rd. (TH 57), and Beechwoods Rd. (TH 5).

Local Officials, Responders Urge Everyone to Wear Lifejackets

Yulan, NY - The fourth local drowning on the Delaware River in as many days left Town of Highland Supervisor Jeff Haas deeply shaken. He was one of the Yulan firefighters who performed CPR on the 28-year-old victim yesterday evening at a campground near Barryville.

“This river doesn’t play games,” he said. “The recent deaths have been of young, able-bodied people who drowned because they weren't wearing PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices, like lifejackets).”

Sullivan County Budget Again Wins National Award

Monticello, NY – For the sixth consecutive time, the Sullivan County Manager’s Office and Budget Office have earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

“This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by your organization,” GFOA Technical Services Center Director Michele Mark Levine wrote in congratulations to Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek.

Sullivan County Exceeds 30,000 Vaccinated Against COVID-19

Liberty, NY – Public Health Director Nancy McGraw is pleased to announce that Sullivan County and partners have vaccinated 30,000 people against COVID-19 as of this week, with more being added daily.

“Our population is just under 76,000, and when you remove those less than 12 years old and thus unable to receive a vaccine dose, approximately 60% of our residents have fully completed their vaccinations,” McGraw noted. “And there are close to 5,000 more who are on their way to joining them in ensuring our communities are safe from this highly contagious virus.”
