Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program recently earned the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award from Esri, a leading developer of GIS products.

“We’re honored to be counted among just 185 winners out of 1,200 nominees from over 60,000 eligible agencies,” remarked Lorne Green, commissioner of the County’s Division of Information Technology Services, which oversees the GIS Program. “And of the 3 county nominations in NYS, Sullivan County was the only governmental agency recipient for the 2021 SAG Award.”

Bridge Near Hurleyville to Be Closed for a Month

Hurleyville, NY - The Sullivan County Division of Public Works has closed a portion of Liberty Town Highway 38 (Garden House Road), in the Town of Liberty, to repair County Bridge 261, located approximately 0.4 mile southeast of the intersection of Denman Road and Garden House Road. This section of Town Highway will remain closed for approximately 1 month.

A detour route has been posted using Mierhoff Rd., Krum Rd., Mongaup Rd., East Mongaup Sect A, and Huschke Rd.

Donation to Veterans Group Buys a Freezer for Assistance Center

County Treasurer Becomes President of Statewide Association

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck has just been appointed President of the NYS County Treasurers and Finance Officers Association (NYSCTFOA), replacing outgoing President and Herkimer County Treasurer Kim Enea.

“I am incredibly honored and privileged to become the next President of this group of Statewide fiscal leaders,” Buck stated. “And I’m excited to bring them to Sullivan County next year for the Association’s Summer Conference, where they’ll get a taste of our legendary hospitality.”

Sullivan Granted Official Medical Reserve Corps Status

Liberty, NY – As COVID-19 made clear, it takes a community to battle a pandemic. And Sullivan County plans on keeping that powerful force at the ready.

“We were looking to initiate a Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) before coronavirus hit, and that desire turned into action – as the virus rolled across the County, our volunteers rolled too, providing much-needed support to our nurses and other County employees,” Public Health Services Director Nancy McGraw recalled.
