Training Requirements
Training and Other Requirements in Order to Become a Certified Foster Parent:
- Ten weeks of MAPP (Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting) training (30 hours);
- Updated physical, if not had one within the last year;
- Fill out application paperwork, including Family Profile/Autobiography;
- Two-three home visits by Agency Home finder, including fire safety assessment;
- Completion of Home Study;
- Four references (one from school personnel where your children go to school, if applicable);
- New York State Child Abuse Register Clearance Form, all members of household 18 and over;
- Fingerprints.
- Building Inspection – To make sure that the home is safe and is up to code.
