Forensic Interviews:

A child-centered, non-leading, developmentally and culturally appropriate conversation between a trained specialist and a child, to gather factual information regarding allegations of possible abuse and/or exposure to violence. This conversation is conducted in a safe, child-friendly environment.

Emotional Support and Advocacy:

Victim advocacy services are available for victims of abuse/ crime and their non-offending family members. They can provide emotional support, accompany victims to court proceedings and law enforcement interviews and ensure victims and their non-offending parent or guardian understands their legal rights

Medical Exams:

The Child Abuse Pediatrics program at the Westchester Institute for Human Development offers outpatient forensic assessments at their Goshen, N.Y. location, for children and teens presenting through our MDT due to concerns for sexual abuse.  All medical providers are trained through the New York Medical College Collaborative Practice Program and the New York State Child Abuse Medical Providers (CHAMP) program

Mental Health Treatment:

Specialized trauma-focused mental health services are available through Astor Services.

Community Education and Outreach:

Through community outreach, the CAC provides ongoing education regarding the signs of child abuse or neglect, how it affects families and how to seek help.
