Weigh in on Aging in Sullivan County!

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Office for the Aging is interested in what residents have to say about what’s important to them as they and their loved ones age in Sullivan County. 

A Community Needs Assessment Survey is one of several ways in which the Office is reaching out. The data gathered from this survey is an essential piece of the process that evaluates available resources and supports and identifies gaps in services experience by older adults and their caregivers.

Public Again Invited to Help Find Ways to Share Services Countywide

Monticello, NY – Building on momentum from the first public session, Sullivan County government, local school districts and municipalities will gather again to begin firming up plans to deliver services more efficiently to the residents of the County. Deputy County Manager John Liddle will return as host, with members of the public invited to begin the process of submitting a County-wide Shared Services Plan to both save taxpayer money and attract matching funds from the State.

Main Street, CR 81 in Livingston Manor Soon to See Significant Roadwork

Livingston Manor, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works (DPW) will begin a series of roadwork projects in Livingston Manor tomorrow.

On Friday, July 12, DPW crews will begin mill-and-fill repair work along the entire length of County Route 81 (DeBruce Road), continuing through Tuesday, July 16. While the road will remain open to traffic, travelers should expect some delays.

Eldred Culvert Work Will Be Focus of July 23 Informational Meeting

Eldred, NY – Sullivan County’s Division of Public Works will conduct a Public Informational Meeting to discuss the proposed replacement of a culvert on Eldred-Yulan Road/County Route 33 that is approximately 550 feet west of the intersection of Eldred-Yulan Road/CR33 and Route 55 (CR 11).

The meeting will be held at the Highland Town Hall, 4 Proctor Road, Eldred, on Tuesday, July 23, from 7-9 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain comments from interested parties and adjacent landowners related to the proposed project and to discuss environmental and traffic concerns.

Jefferson Street in Monticello to Be Repaved

Monticello, NY – Now that the water line to the new Sullivan County Jail has been installed, a crew from the County’s Division of Public Works will be repaving Jefferson Street between the Government Center and Raceway Road/Route 17B this Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10.

This is one of the most heavily travelled roads in all of Sullivan County, so while the work should only take those two days (weather permitting), significant delays are likely, starting at 6 a.m. both days.

Monticello, NY – The Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program provides an opportunity for eligible seniors to support local farmers and improve nutritional health by increasing their consumption of locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables and fresh-cut herbs.

“Consuming fresh fruits and vegetables can increase the quality of your diet and decrease your risk of hypertension, cancer and cardiovascular disease,” remarks District 2 Legislator Nadia Rajsz, chair of the Legislature’s Health & Family Services Committee.
