New Web-Based Calendar Details Public Events Happening in County Government

Monticello, NY – A new calendar at www.sullivanny.us aims to increase public awareness of and participation in County government events and activities.

“Conceived by our communications team and initiated by our information technology services team, this web-based tool will endeavor to list every public-facing event we schedule,” County Manager Josh Potosek explained. “That includes our mobile DMV locations, our partnership to address addiction with Bridge Back to Life, Legislature meetings, blood drives, and more.”

What Should Be Done With Monticello's Broadway Theater?

Monticello, NY – Specialists in theater development have been exploring potential new uses for Monticello’s long-shuttered Broadway Theater. Closed and neglected for more than three decades, it’s been acquired by the Sullivan County Land Bank Corporation, which obtained a grant for the study from New York State’s Empire State Development agency. The work will establish a vision for the theater and a program for its rehabilitation, that will then be used to seek capital funding.

Step back in time with Sharon and Eric on October 1 to learn about fascinating Sullivan County history while creating poetry and art inspired by this picturesque setting of the former Delaware & Hudson Canal’s towpath, canal bed, and stone bridges.

State Grant to Continue Airport Transformation

White Lake, NY – Sullivan County International Airport is receiving $18.5 million from the State to significantly renovate and expand the John “J.J.” McGough Terminal.

“This is another step in this administration’s commitment to making the Airport attractive and a viable asset for the future growth of the County,” remarked Legislature Chairman Robert A. Doherty.

Move Sullivan Doubles Amount of Routes

Monticello, NY – In a major expansion by the Sullivan County Legislature of a three-year-old program, Move Sullivan buses are now providing service to 18 new stops and 8 communities, in addition to the existing two dozen stops across 10 locations.

“This Legislature is all about getting residents and visitors what they need,” said Legislature Chairman Robert A. Doherty. “We’re devoting the necessary resources to make that happen, including this huge expansion of our public transportation service, Move Sullivan.”
