Sullivan County Budget Again Wins National Award

Monticello, NY – For the fifth consecutive time, the Sullivan County Manager’s Office and Budget Office have earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

“This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by your organization,” GFOA Technical Services Center Director Michele Mark Levine wrote in congratulations to Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek.

Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic Coming October 15

Loch Sheldrake, NY – Haven’t gotten your flu shot yet? Sullivan County Public Health Services invites every Sullivan County resident over the age of 18 to sign up for their inaugural Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic this October 15!

“This is a great way to easily and safely get your dose of flu vaccine before flu season is upon us,” affirmed Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., our crew of trained nurses will administer shots to any County residents who have pre-registered with us – right from the comfort and convenience of your own car.”

Shopping Buses Resume October 13

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Office for the Aging is pleased to announce that the County will be resuming a modified shopping bus schedule as of October 13.

“The shopping bus provides round-trip transportation from seniors’ homes to Monticello shopping,” says Office for the Aging Director Lise-Anne Deoul. “Registration with our office is required. The suggested contribution is $3 per round trip. Please dial 845-807-0244 to make a reservation at least 3 business days prior.”

Sullivan County Auctioning Surplus Vehicles and Equipment

Monticello, NY – Bidders are welcome from now through October 12 on more than 50 items of heavy equipment, cars, buses, trucks, heating/cooling units, typewriters, lights, fixtures and assorted parts up for auction by the Sullivan County Division of Public Works (DPW).

“From a wheel balancer to a diesel mower to 18 Ford Focus sedans, we’ve got a lot to pick through,” says District 7 Legislator and Public Works Committee Chair Joe Perrello. “I invite everyone to take a look and make a bid.”

Next "Let's Talk Sullivan" Drops September 28

Monticello, NY – Legislature Chairman Robert Doherty and Vice Chair Michael Brooks will host the second installment of the rebooted Sullivan County Town Hall series, called “Let’s Talk Sullivan,” this Monday, September 28 on the County’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sullivancountygov and YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/channel/UC-6KnDAiuQEnDNWO13Ev1sw. The presentation will be available starting at 1 p.m.

Help Us Help You Combat COVID-19

Monticello, NY – The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA), in partnership with BellAge, Inc., and the Association on Aging in New York (AgingNY), has launched CV19 CheckUp in New York State, a free, anonymous, personalized online tool that evaluates an individual’s risks associated with COVID-19 based on their life situation and behavior, and provides recommendations and resources to reduce those risks.

DMV Switches to Appointments Only

Monticello, NY – Beginning Monday, September 28, the Sullivan County office of the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will no longer offer the DMV drop boxes for transaction processing. 

Sullivan County Clerk Russell Reeves, who oversees the local DMV office, stated, “While the boxes played an integral part in helping the public during the height of the COVID pandemic, it is now prudent to have all transactions done with a scheduled appointment.”
