Road to Close in Eldred for Bridgework

Eldred, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of County Road 33 (Eldred-Yulan Road) in the Town of Highland to replace County Bridge 198, located approximately 0.1 miles west of the intersection of CR 33 and State Route 55 (County Road 11). This section of road is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting 7 a.m. October 5, 2020, and will remain closed for approximately 2 weeks.

On Medicaid/Medicare or Looking to Be? Here's Some Useful Info

Liberty, NY – You may not hear of it often, but Sullivan County’s Medical Assistance (MA) Unit is responsible for a critical portion of Public Assistance: determining eligibility for Medicaid and various related programs.

These programs are designed to provide necessary medical, dental and optical care to families who may not otherwise be able to obtain these services. They are based on need and have varying eligibility requirements for groups such as pregnant women, children under age 19 and senior citizens.

Within this unit there are several specialized programs:

POW/MIA Day to Be Observed September 18

Monticello, NY – The public is cordially invited to attend a special ceremony in honor of POW/MIA Recognition Day, Friday, September 18 at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial located outside the Sullivan County Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello.

Mask-wearing will be required, and there is ample room to socially distance while still witnessing the ceremony.

Fish Available for Stocking

Liberty, NY - The Sullivan County Soil & Water Conservation District is now taking orders for the annual Fish Stocking Program. 

If you are interested in stocking your pond with large mouth bass, rainbow or brook trout, fathead minnows, or crawfish this fall, the District will be accepting orders until Monday, September 14, 2020. The pick-up date is Monday, September 21. Trout should be stocked in cold-water ponds.
