Join RSVP Today!

The Sullivan County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is part of AmeriCorps Seniors largest volunteer efforts in the nation for people 55 and over.  Sullivan County RSVP has been matching older adults who are willing to help with local organizations on the front lines of meeting community needs since 1973.

You have gained a lifetime of experience.  Now is the time to put your skills and talents to good use by helping others in your community.  When you join RSVP, you get to choose the amount of time you want to give, and you choose how you want to give back.  Deliver hot meals to the homebound; drive an elderly neighbor to a medical appointment; help a local non-profit with office related tasks; maintain a garden; greet and assist visitors in a gift shop; assist with registration or setting up tabling events; help with fundraising; work in a thrift shop; help out at a food pantry; help preserve local history.  These are just a few of the service opportunities available to you through RSVP.

In return for your time and energy, as a RSVP volunteer, you will make new friends, learn new skills, remain a vital part of our community and be recognized for your efforts.  When you volunteer, you’re not just helping others, you’re helping yourself.  Research has found that volunteering provides older adults with improved physical and mental health, and greater life satisfaction.  Studies have also shown that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a more positive outlook on life.

There are other benefits in becoming a RSVP volunteer.  Our volunteers are eligible to receive mileage reimbursement.  There is no mileage limit for our RSVP Nutrition and Medical Drivers.  Each RSVP volunteer is also eligible for supplemental insurance at no monetary cost to the individual.  You pay with your volunteer service. The supplemental insurance covers you while you are volunteering and includes, accident insurance, personal liability insurance, and excess automobile insurance.   In addition to that, the RSVP office expresses its gratitude along with the community at large in recognizing all of the activities and volunteer service at an annual recognition gala that is held each year by invitation.  We sincerely appreciate the tremendous donation of time energy, talent, and skills.

If you are interested in making a positive difference in the lives of others, won’t you please consider joining our team?  You can reach our RSVP Coordinator, Monika Roosa, by calling (845) 807-0255 or emailing Monika.Roosa@sullivanny.gov to explore the many opportunities available throughout our county.
