Time for Spring Cleaning!

These new Litter Pluck Disposal Coupons replace the stickers used in previous years.

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Annual Roadside & Trail Litter Pluck is set for April 1 through June 30, 2022. By resolution of the County Legislature, the disposal fee will be waived during that time for roadside & public trail litter.

This popular annual event is coordinated by the County’s Parks, Recreation and Beautification Department and the Division of Public Works.

Warming Centers Open on Saturday Evening

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County plans to open its two warming shelters Saturday, March 12 in Liberty and Monticello.

These two locations are:

  • United Methodist Church, 170 North Main Street, Liberty
  • Ted Stroebele Recreation Center, 2 Jefferson Street, Monticello

These facilities will be open to anyone from 8 p.m. Saturday, March 12 to 8 a.m. Sunday, March 13. PLEASE NOTE: Masks continue to be required. 

County's Health Offices Renamed

Liberty, NY – As part of changes in Sullivan County’s Administrative Code approved by legislators, the Division of Health & Family Services has been renamed to the Division of Health & Human Services. Also, the Department of Family Services (DFS) has become the Department of Social Services (DSS), while Public Health Services has become the Department of Public Health.

Sullivan Medical Reserve Corps Earns $5,000 Federal Grant

Medical Reserve Corps volunteers worked side-by-side with Public Health Services staff during dozens of COVID-19 vaccination clinics, including this one at the Stroebele Center in Monticello.

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County’s newly recognized Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) just received word that it’s one of only three New York-based MRCs to receive Federal funding in 2022.

Warming Centers Open Again

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County plans to open its two warming shelters tonight (March 3, 2022) and tomorrow (March 4, 2022) in Liberty and Monticello.

These two locations are:

  • United Methodist Church, 170 North Main Street, Liberty
  • Ted Stroebele Recreation Center, 2 Jefferson Street, Monticello

These facilities will be open to anyone from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Warming Centers Open Friday through Monday Night

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County plans to open its two warming shelters Friday (February 25, 2022) through Monday (February 28, 2022) in Liberty and Monticello.

These two locations are:

  • United Methodist Church, 170 North Main Street, Liberty
  • Ted Stroebele Recreation Center, 2 Jefferson Street, Monticello

These facilities will be open to anyone from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Warming Centers Open Friday and Saturday

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County plans to open its two warming shelters tonight (February 18, 2022) and tomorrow (February 19, 2022) in Liberty and Monticello.

These two locations are:

  • United Methodist Church, 170 North Main Street, Liberty
  • Ted Stroebele Recreation Center, 2 Jefferson Street, Monticello

These facilities will be open to anyone from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Test Kits Available This Thursday at Government Center

Monticello, NY – Thanks to a newly arrived shipment from the State, Sullivan County will be distributing free COVID-19 at-home test kits this Thursday, February 17, at the Government Center.

“Yesterday, we took possession of 20,000 kits,” Public Safety Commissioner Thomas Farney explained. “Since most of our towns, villages and schools have ample supply, we will be distributing these to agencies in need, County employees and, on Thursday, to the general public.”

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County will keep open its two warming shelters early this week in Liberty and Monticello:

  • United Methodist Church, 170 North Main Street, Liberty
  • Ted Stroebele Recreation Center, 2 Jefferson Street, Monticello

These facilities will be open to anyone from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. from Monday, February 14 to Tuesday, February 15 (through the morning of Wednesday, February 16). PLEASE NOTE: Masks continue to be required.
